ONU Study Abroad Scholarships
The purpose of the ONU USAC Study Abroad Scholarships is to assist students with the financial cost of study through the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC). Priority will be given to students according to the criteria below:
USAC scholarships will be awarded according to the following priorities:
1. Modern Languages department majors studying in the language in which they are majoring
2. Modern Languages department minors studying in the language in which they are minoring.
3. Students studying in a foreign language abroad.
4. Students studying in English-speaking countries, or in a program which uses English as its main language of communication.
Additional Consideration may be based on the following
1. Length and cost of program
2. Financial need of the applicant
3. GPA
In order to apply for the scholarship students you MUST:
- Be a full-time student at Ohio Northern University;
- Be approved for foreign study through a USAC program;
- Complete all application material found here;
Due Dates:
- November 15 for Spring
- March 14 for Summer
- May 1 for Fall
Arts & Science Travel Stipend
The Byron L. Hawbecker Travel Fellowship is available for students in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing study abroad. In order to apply for the A&S stipend you MUST:
- Be pursuing a major or minor in the College of Arts & Sciences;
- Be approved for foreign study;
- Complete all application material found here;
The Arts & Sciences Study Abroad Committee will then distribute the funds available according to its own discretion, considering cost and financial need as a primary criterion.
Due Dates:
- December 1 for Spring
- April 1 for Summer
- April 1 for Fall
IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that a travel stipend recipient does not successfully complete his or her pre-approved course of study abroad, the student shall return the money for the travel stipend to Ohio Northern University.
